100,000 miles…
When he opens his mouth you tell yourself “Oh no here we go
again”.
You haven’t even heard what he has to say but you’ve heard
it all before.
About how back in the old days they used to do things
differently.
You’re lining up your instinctive reply “We don’t live in
that generation any more”.
If you look closely at his face, you can see the long miles
engraved thinly across his face.
The wrinkles are like the markings of Roman Numerals and Egyptian
Hieroglyphics.
In his eyes you can see all his journeys and challenges he
has faced.
The crooked bridge of his nose symbolises the hills and
valleys he has had to cross.
He has seen more than you can even imagine or fathom.
Haha! The new age of ignorance and technology.
His long grey hairs scare you, he’s a warrior.
He paved the way for you before you were born.
He paved the pavement you skate on and do tricks on.
He’s a walking and talking museum.
He’s seen all the leaders and all the political and social
changes.
Each tear drop comes from the River Nile and Pacific Ocean.
He battled pirates, rode high tides and waves.
You laugh at him before he opens his mouth, you say he doesn’t
know what he’s talking about.
But his sweet words are worth more than your Apple updates
and Samsung data.
Be patient let his information sink in, he might be crippled.
But his guidance can be the walking stick to guide you in
this cold world.
