Mary
Scene 1
(The year was 2015. It was a hot summer's day in New Orleans. A few cops circled the block looking for trouble makers. Although on side of New Orleans it wasn't so rough, it wasn't the "Ghetto" as white folks like to call it. On this side was mainly pick pockets you may have to worry about. Outside of that it was a friendly neighbourhood. People got on with their lives. The usual day to day work then home. If you were religious then church, if not then the strip clubs. There were a lot of strip clubs in New Orleans. There were a lot of liquor stores and jazz bars in New Orleans. A couple dressed in gym attire could be seen on the block jogging. Both wearing headphones and laughing whilst jogging. Sweat dripped down their whole body as they pounded their feet on the pavement. They cut across past the gas station. The gas station was quiet, Mary was practically alone. She wore a maxi dress and gladiator sandals. The sun kissed her dark skin, every part of her seemed to shine, her teeth and her eyes glistened. She wore big hoop earrings and at least 5 bracelets on her right arm. She entered the store and the radio was blaring music."Time After time by Cyndi Lauper" could be heard. The air con slapped her as she walked into the store.)
Cyndi Lauper- IF YOUR LOST AND YOU LOOK YOU WILL FIND ME TIME AFTER TIME! IF YOU FALL I WILL CATCH YOU! TIME AFTER TIME!
Mary: Hey madam! Here you go, $30 Dollars for that gas.
Raquel: Thank you dear, how are you? How is the husband and the kids? May I add you are glowing today ma'am.
(Raquel was grinning and nodding her head. She was in her mid 60s, she was Mexican and Cuban, her and her sons ran the gas station and had another liquor store a few blocks away. She always took an interest in Mary's life. Mary always had time for Raquel. She did tend to talk a lot, usually when she was in a rush.)
Mary: Everybody is fine! Ryan and Rochelle are getting bigger everyday. I can't believe it and Rochelle is packing a lil attitude these days I have to watch her close.
Raquel: Haha! I'm sure she will grow out of it eventually. This is the most exciting time because this is when they show their character and personality.
Mary: Nawwwww I preferred them when they were little.
Raquel: Hmmm well you know you could have another?
Mary: Naw darling! This set of twins are ok for now. I ain't in no rush.
Raquel: I'm sure Brian wouldn't mind one more.
Mary: We good, we good for now.
Raquel: How is Brian anyway? He ok?
Mary: We are all good sweetie. But listen I'm going to have to go home. My big bear husband and cubs are waiting for food!
Raquel: Ok mami, we will catch up soon. We are having a cook out in a few weeks, you and the family are welcome to come along.
Mary: I will let you know.
(Mary left the store and got into the car. She did enjoy Raquel but she didn't have the time to stand around and talk. She was already behind schedule. She began to feel sick and nauseous. She looked outside the window and everything seemed to slow down. Butterflies rose in her stomach. Her saliva began to feel salty, she started to feel dizzy. She looked into the mirror and could see tears trying to come out of her eyes. She took some more deep breaths and shook her head. She reached into the glove compartment and took a tablet out and popped it in her mouth. She sat still for a few minutes before turning on the ignition and peeling off. As she peeled off Raquel waved at her through the mirror but Mary didn't notice. She blocked out everything to stay focused. After 20 minutes she pulled up to her drive. She parked up and hopped out. She popped the trunk and began to pull some bags out. She had the feeling that somebody was watching her but she couldn't shake it. She looked over her shoulder but she couldn't see anybody. She continued to remove her bags from her boot. All of a sudden...)
Marco: Boo!
(Mary squealed out loudly. Marco chuckled at her reaction. Marco was a little shorter than her. He had yellow skin and freckles. He sported a mini Afro.)
Mary: Damn you Marco! You a trip!
Marco: I know right!
Mary: I scare easily!
Marco: In this side of New Orleans? Nothing to be afraid of ma'am haha!
Mary: Hmm well I have to go my husband and kids are waiting for me.
Marco: Oh right, I'm sure they are.
Mary: I hope you are ok though?
Marco: Yes I am fine darlin. Just got a lot of work going on at the precinct. Still got a few investigations. I get sent over to the hood a few times but then again I have some white collar crimes here going on, Tax evasion and-
(Mary was itching to go inside. This was the second time she was held up due to small talk.)
Mary: Ok good evening Sir. All the best.
(Marco was taken aback. He nodded his head and kiss her hand and walked away.)
Marco: See you around Mrs. Anderson.
(Marco left down the block. He had moved into the neighbourhood recently. He was a detective, he came in from DC. He was a nice guy, he had approached her whilst she was at a restaurant with her girls a few years back but she obviously declined because she was taken. But she knew he still wanted her. She could see it every time she caught eye contact with him. Usually she would cut off guys who expressed interest in a more than friendly way but he was such a nice guy she would tolerate conversation with him sometimes. She winked at him as he left her. She turned away and walked to the front door.)
Ryan: MOMMY!
Rochelle: MOMMY
(They both ran towards her and hugged her legs. Ryan was a little taller than Rochelle. Both had her dark skin complexion. Rochelle had her hair in tight plaits with blue ribbons. Ryan grinned at his mother, he currently had a tooth missing, it made him look extra goofy with his glasses on. At 4 years old both of them had unlimited energy. She was half expecting them to be asleep it was just after 7pm. But they rarely settle when her or Brian were out of the house.)
Ryan: Mommy we made a ship with Daddy, come and see.
Rochelle: We did it! Yay!
(The kids ran back into the living room and Brian strode out into the corridor. He wore a big smile on his face. He was brown skinned, bald and bearded. He wore a tight vest and basketball shorts and socks. He had a built physique. He had played at semi pro American football level for his college. He still maintained the frame even after college. He has been working in construction since then. She hugged her and kissed her on the cheek. He grabbed her butt cheekily. Mary giggled and winced awkwardly.)
Brian: I missed you baby.
Mary: Yes.. I uh missed you too.
Brian: You don't seem too sure...
Mary: Can you help me with the groceries?
(She passed him the bags and went upstairs. She took a quick shower and came back downstairs. Both kids were on the coach with Brian watching a movie. She crept past and went to the fridge.)
Brian: I ordered food hunny.
Mary: Oh, I was going to make a quick Mac and Cheese.
Brian: Don't worry about that, we got some food from the Jamaican spot, I left some in the microwave for you.
Mary: How was work hunny?
Mary: How was work hunny?
(His eyes didn't move from the TV.)
Mary: Umm..so work was good?
Brian: I don't want to talk about it
Mary: They messed up your project again?-
Mary: Umm..so work was good?
Brian: I don't want to talk about it
Mary: They messed up your project again?-
Brian: Hey Bartender Mary could you get me a drink?
(The kids giggled. Mary giggled.)
Mary: Umm sure, what would you like?
Brian: Triple scotch on the rocks.
Mary: Brian...
Brian: That's a triple scotch ma'am, post haste.
(Brian glanced at her, she winced.)
Brian: Look at that clown on the TV, he looks like you bwoi. (He tickled Ryan who giggled.)
(Mary brought over the drink and went back to the kitchen counter. She nibbled some of the food but couldn't finish it. Brian to two gulps of the drink and put his glass down.)
Brian: Re fill.
(Mary sighed.)
Brian: (Ryan tried to tickle Brian.) Haha! Bwoi you a fool!
(The kids roared with laughter. After an hour both of the kids fell asleep on the sofa. Brian's eyes were opening and closing. He had his 4th glass within 45 minutes. Mary scooped each child and took them up to their room. She read them a bedtime story and she lay next to them until they were fully asleep. Once they were asleep she went to her room and switched off the lights. Her heart was beating and her palms were sweating. Her eyes opened and closed in the darkness. After a few hours of laying alone she heard loud footsteps coming up the stairs. The door swung open and Brian stumbled in the room. His eyes were red and his face looked like fire. He gave Mary a stern look as she stood up from the bed.)
Mary: I will sleep downstairs.
Brian: You don't want to sleep..your...your maynneee? Ha
Mary: Brian stop it.
Brian: Stop what? I ain..I ain't...I'm just cool, you need to stop being so...
(He swayed side to side pointing at her.)
Mary: Brian, the kids..
Brian: Don't talk about my kids you whore.
Mary: What??
Brian: You think I din't see you with that fed outside? I saw him kissing up your arm.
Mary: He is just a friend and he is NOT a fed.
Brian: Don't lie to me! I saaawwwww you with my own ears! I mean eyes! Look, you got me sounding stupid.
Mary: (Whispers) You do that to yourself
Brian: What?
Mary: I'm sorry ! Please don't hit me!
(Brian took off his belt, slammed the door and turned off the lights.)

Scene 2
(The next day Mary stood in front of the mirror in the bathroom. She unbuttoned her bathrobe and looked at the bruises on her ribs. She poked it and felt a sharp pain. She walked gingerly out of the bathroom back into the empty bedroom. He had left her and gone to work. The room still smelt like alcohol. She opened the curtains and windows, sunlight streamed into the room. She looked at the time and panicked, it was 8.15, the kids should be in school in the next 15 minutes and the traffic would be crazy. She ran into their room but they weren't there. She instantly panicked. She ran down the stairs and saw Rochelle and Ryan sat on the coach fully dressed, watching cartoons. She breathed a sigh of relief. He had obviously got them ready whilst she was asleep.)
Ryan: Mommy we gotta go today is the last day!
Rochelle: Then Holiday!
Mary: Ok babies, let Mommy freshen up and we will be in school in no time.
(She slid on some joggers and sneakers. She put on some make up and dark shades then ran back downstairs. They hopped into the car and were off on the roads. She arrived at the gates a few minutes late. The playground was filled with kids of all ages. It was louder and busier than usual. She opened the door and the kids ran to their class and waved as they joined them. Mary smiled and hopped back into her car. As she was about to reverse Ms. Thomas shuffled towards her. Mary rolled her eyes behind her glasses.)
Ms. Thomas: Hey! You ok?
Mary: I'm ok, last day of the year, time flies!
Ms. Thomas: Doesn't it just!
Mary: Well I need to-
Ms. Thomas: I just wanted to let you know, you are doing a great job with Rochelle and Ryan! Both of them are excelling in all subject areas. Next year we really want to push them-
Mary: You know what Ms. Thomas, I would love to chat but I'm going to be late for work.
(Ms. Thomas looked at her joggers and sneakers and frowned.)
Ms. Thomas: You are going to work?
Mary: Yes and I am late. I will speak to you in the next coffee morning.
(She reversed and peeled out. She sped down the streets back down to the house. As she got out of the car and walked up the steps she felt her pocket vibrating. It was her phone. It was a number she was dreading. It was Clinton, her boss.)
Clinton: Where the hell are you?
Mary: Something came up, I had to take my kid to hospital.
Clinton: What? Why didn't you tell me this yesterday I would have got cover.
Mary: Sometimes things just pop up. I didn't see this happening but I'm sorry right now I can't talk.
Clinton: Mary-
(She cut the phone shoved it back in her pocket. She ran upstairs and had another shower. She showered at least 3 to 4 times a day everyday. She had been doing that for the last couple of years since Brian began to turn violent towards her. It was the only place she felt safe. She had been itching to shower since she woke up. Ever since he got promoted at work he had become and asshole. At first she figured it was arrogance, but she did some digging and found out that some of his staff were undermining him and cutting him out of deals with partners. He still made a lot of money but they didn't respect him. They thought he kissed ass to get into his position.)
(After some time in the bathroom she walked back into her bedroom and got dressed and fixed her make up. She pulled up the carpet pulled up some of the wooden flooring and took out a plastic tub. She took out a tablet and popped it in her mouth. She sat on the edge of the bed looking at a picture of her and Brian. Both looked much younger and much happier. It was at a restaurant on their 1 year anniversary. Again she fought tears coming back. She shot up and went down stairs. She turned on the radio and could hear Obama speaking.)
Obama: We must combat terrorism! We must not be weak, we must be strong. America we must not tolerate villains and bandits. I refuse to allow us to be consumed by such heinous crimes. Men, women, we must be strong.
(She proceeded to mop the floor. She mopped the floor for almost 20 minutes, she cleaned the curtains, hoovered and cooked. She stayed busy for at least 3 hours. She went upstairs and took another tablet and came back downstairs. She turned off the radio and sat and watched the news. She heard vibrating from the kitchen counter. She got up but she saw her phone was on the coach and it wasn't ringing. She looked over her shoulder and shuffled to the counter. The vibrating was even louder than before. She pulled open the draw, she pushed the cutlery to the side and saw a small phone ringing. It was an old model phone, it was tiny. She picked it up and saw messages and missed calls from an unnamed number She frantically started scrolling through reading the messages.)
Brian: Is my Tiffany going to be a dirty slut for me tonight baby?
Tiffany: I've been waiting for you all week boo. I need you next to me.
Brian: I bought you something naughty to wear...
Tiffany: I want you to take it off like-
(Mary turned off her phone and crouched on the floor. She laughed hysterically for a few minutes then sat in silence. She then got up and paced up and down the room. She walked to the freezer and opened it then closed it. She put on some sandals and picked up her keys. She walked down the street. She walked for 10 minutes until she was at the super market. She walked through the revolving door and smiled at the security guard. She went to the frozen food aisle and browsed over different types of spinach. She picked up some prawns and ice cubes. She walked to the other aisle and she saw Marco with another guy. No doubt it was one of his colleagues. They were both wearing smart clothes. Marco was no where near as good looking as Brian but he was cute. Marco's eyes lit up when he saw Mary's smile and curves. She walked towards him, he signalled his partner to walk away. He licked his lips as she approached. He could see she was walking a bit gingerly. )
Marco: Hey pretty lady, what you doing here?
Mary: Just a bit of shopping dear, how are you officer?
Marco: Ha! I'm a detective not a cop.
Mary: Still a man in uniform nonetheless.
Marco: You alright?
Mary: Yes, why do you ask?
Marco: No sure, you don't see to be moving so fast today-
(Mary's stomach dropped.)
Mary: Am I under investigation?
Marco: No I just-
Mary: I am just taking my time, having twins takes it out of you Mr.
Marco: Don't I know it. My kids take a lot of of me. A lot of energy.
Mary: You still with the Mom?
Marco: No, relationships, are not easy...
Mary: Ha! Don't I know it.
(Mary giggled and stood close to Marco, she stroked the side of his face and pouted. Marco began to sweat and stammer.)
Marco: Hey l-l-look, I got to head b-b-b-back to my office-
Mary: Oh, I was hoping you could give me a lift Sir.
Marco: Oh hell yeah, I can give you a lift.
(They both walked towards the counter. She paid for her goods and they walked to his car. Marco watched her carefully as she walked. Mary smiled as he watched her. She knew she still has the sugar that he desperately wants. But Marco was checking how she was moving, she still moved gingerly and she kept rubbing her rib. As they drove back Marco sat in silence through most of the car journey. He listened to her speak, she mainly spoke about her kids and looking for a new job. He nodded eagerly and laughed at most of what she was saying, but he was in detective mode.)
Mary: Oh my we have been sitting here an hour! I need to head back in, I need to have a shower and head back out and get the kids.
(A black car drove past them and her heart stopped.)
Marco: You ok? Was that Brian?
Mary: No my husband is at work.
Marco: Ah I see, but you anyway I will leave you to get on with your day, I'm sure you have a lot to do.
Mary: She kissed him on the cheek and stepped out.
Marco: Hey Mary, if you need help, this is my card.
Mary; I'm not sure why I would need it but I will take it anyway.
End Scene
Scene 3
(Marco pulled up to his office building and parked up. He jumped out and ran inside. He went straight into his office and slammed the door behind him. He pulled out all of his papers and notes. He opened up two laptops and began clicking and typing away. He searched around frantically pulling up old records. He opened up a file, Brian Anderson. All of Brian's information came up, his college football days, his graduation and donations to the community. It was clear that Brian was the bread winner. He was head of a construction company and had a few other businesses. No criminal record, no sign of drug abuse or any charges. His nose was clean. But Brian couldn't shake the feeling that Mary was hiding something. She was always flinching, she looked as though she was suffering from some sort of injury. He sipped on his 3rd cup of coffee. He scanned through Mary's records. She was squeaky clean apart from a caution for shop lifting at aged 16. No biggie. She travelled for a few months. The door creaked open and Scott came in. Scott was tall and blonde with sharp green eyes.)
Scott- I take it you are not minding your own business tonight?
(He stood behind him and looked at the computer staring.)
Scott- Ahh, this is that honey you wanted a while back? She's married damn it.
Marco: I know, she's hot but I don't even want her like that in that way.
Scott: But you would bang if you got the chance right?
Marco: Son of a bitch.
Scott: I would, she is hot!
Marco: Look forget that, all I know that something is not right here. Something is happening in that house.
Scott: What does that say?
Marco: What?
(Scott tapped the screen.)
(Scott tapped the screen.)
Scott: Look at her doctor records, says she had to go to New Jersey for some kind of treatment.
Marco: Chemo? She was moving a bit weak when I saw her but then again I saw her before that and she was moving fine.
Scott: It doesn't say, you know how medical files are, they don't always spill the beans because of nosey guys like you.
Marco: This was recently, 3 months ago. She was away for a month.
Scott: Well I'm out! We are heading to the Jazz bar then maybe the strip club.
Marco: I'm gonna hang out here and head home.
Scott: Ight!
(After a few hours of browsing Marco could find nothing incriminating about Mary or Brian. Everything seemed regular. It was getting to midnight. He was still itching for answers. He left his office and turned off the lights. As he stepped out side he could see men on the street corners with their trumpets playing Jazz. People passed and dropped coins and dollars at their feet. Some even gave them liqour. This gentleman played Billie Holiday.)
Gentleman: And if my friend ain't got no money
And I say, "All right, take all of mine honey,"
It ain't nobody's business if I do.
It ain't nobody's business if I do.
If I lend her my last nickel
And it leaves me in a pickle,
And it leaves me in a pickle,
It ain't nobody's business if I do.
(Marco drove past Mary's house, he noticed her car was there but Brian's wasn't there. He circled around the block 5 times. He parked up on the corner. He sat in his car with his binoculars. After a few minutes a black car pulled up. The driver seemed erratic. Had the car gone any faster it would have crashed into the porch. Brian stumbled out of the car and shut the door, he dropped his keys and bent over to pick them up. He searched in the darkness but couldn't appear to find them. He stood up scratching his head. He kicked the car door in frustration. He banged on the door, within seconds Mary came down and opened the door, she had a headscarf and bathrobes on. They exchanged words, Brian looked over his shoulder and faced her, he grabbed her neck and shoved her inside. He shut the door behind him. Marco took out his revolver and slid out of his car. He ran across the street in the darkness. He sat underneath the window and peered through. They were arguing with each other loudly.)
Mary: Where are you coming from huh?
Brian: I'm the man of this house, I'm the king of this castle, don't question me...My word is....
(Brian's speech was slurred, Marco couldn't make out everything he was saying.)
Mary: Brian you need help!
Brian: You need to stop telling me what to do.
(He grabbed her by her robe and pushed her back. It wasn't hard but it was threatening. He slunk back.)
Brian: I hate you, I hate myself. I hate every body damn it! Damn everybody!
(Mary tried to hug him but he turned his back. Mary sat down on the coach and sobbed. Marco looked at her longingly. After a few minutes he crept back to his car and sped off.)
Scene 4
(A week later....)
Rochelle and Ryan played on the front porch. Mary sat and watched whilst sipping on some lemonade. It was a typical hot day in New Orleans, it was carnival season so even though Mary's house was close to the suburbs it was getting very busy. People from out of down were passing in and out of the area. She smiled as Rochelle and Ryan played. She loved their innocence. The only thing pure she had left in her life was her love for her kids. A blue Range Rover parked opposite the house. Speakers were bumping Lil Wayne loud and clear. Candice came out of the car, she beamed at her sister as she crossed the street. Rochelle and Ryan jumped up and down.
Ryan: It's Auntie!
Candice: Ohhh you gone strong bwoi! Let me see those arms!!
(He flexed his arms for her and she squeezed them.)
Candice: Thats my big bwoi!
Mary: Don't make his head any bigger than it already is!
Rochelle: What about mineeee?!! awwww thats not fairrrr!
Candice; Hey hey! You got that pretty hair and those pretty eyes. You don't need any muscle, you gonna be a super model girl you hear me??
(Candice grinned. She hugged Mary. She had a slimmer frame then Mary but they looked the same in the face, same eyes and nose. They both stood on the porch and watched the kids play. They didn't look at each other when they spoke.)
Candice: You ok to do this? You sure?
Mary: Yes.
Candice: Me and Martin got some time on our hands so I don't mind taking them for a few days. Yousure you ok?
(Mary nodded.)
Mary: Yes sister. Thank you.
(They both leaned on the railings and looked out into the street.)
Scene 5
(Later that evening....)
(Brian walked into the house. This time he wasn't drunk. Mary leaned against the kitchen table. She wore a blank expression on her face. Brian grinned..)
Brian: Hey.
(Mary didn't respond.)
Brian: I said hey...
(Mary remained silent. She took her phone out and unlocked it. She sent a text and put her phone back in her pocket.)
Brian: Who you texting?
Mary: How is Tiffany?
(Brian's mouth went dry, his stomach dropped.)
Mary: I said how the hell is Tiffany? How is your slut Tiffany?
Brian: Don't call her that, it's complicated.
Mary: What is complicated? (She pulled out the small phone and threw it at his feet. Her face was still blank.)
Brian: Look-
Mary: How is your slut?
Brian: I said don't call her that!
Mary: You love her?
Brian: She makes me feel like a-
Mary: A man?? She makes you feel real good about yourself huh? You are pathetic Brian Anderson and you do not deserve anything.
Brian: You wouldn't understand.
Mary: I don't, all you are is a drunk who can't get it up. Does she fake it for you like I do? Does she think of other people to make herself finish?
(Brian clenched his teeth.)
Mary: Does she know that even though you run your company you get bossed around by the people under you huh? You get treated like a bitch at work and come home and treat me like crap!
(Brian moved towards her. Mary flicked out a knife from her back pocket and lifted it in front of her. She held it straight. Brian breathed heavily.)
Brian: You don't know what you are doing.
Mary: I am taking the kids away you will never see them again, you hear me?
Brian: Never.
(Marco's car pulled up outside, he flashed his lights. Mary walked towards the door where Brian stood. She walked closer, she waved the knife twice in his face and he moved backwards. In a quick flash she picked up a glass bottle and threw it in his direction. It narrowly missed his head, he fell back and she dived past him, she scrambled on the floor and ran outside. Marco came out and opened the door for her. Brian was close behind but he was too late. She jumped in the car, he banged on the windows but Marco sped off. Mary was screaming in fear. Brian ran back to his car and began to chase them. Both cars sped through the streets. Their tyres could be heard screeching.)
Mary: Oh crap! He's so close ! Please don't let him get me please!
Marco: Don't worry baby, I got him right where I want him!
(Marco just about swerved a pot hole, his car tipped the curb but he kept on speeding ahead. Brian was still hot on their tails. Marco took a a sharp left turn and flew the opposite way. Brian cursed in frustration. He reversed and turned backwards to catch them. He passed two red lights just to get close to them. They were headed towards the interstate, Marco took another sharp turn this time he crashed through a wooden fence opening up to some woods. Brian wasn't too far out. Marco stopped and opened the door. He took out his gun and him and Mary ran through the forest. Brian stopped his car and hit the back of Marco's car. He scrambled out with a knife in hand and proceeded to bear down on them. He was a way out but he was very strong and quick.)
Brian: Mary! He can't help you! It's not worth it!
Mary: Get the hell away from us!
Marco: You heard her man!
Brian: You don't need to do this the hard way (He breathed heavily, the cold wind lashed his face but it didn't deter him)
(Marco and Mary stopped running and hid behind a tree. He turned to her and signalled her to be quiet.)
Brian: Look there is nowhere to run. You know this is pointless Mary I just want to talk!
Marco: (Whispers) 3....2....1 RUN!
(They both began to run again, they were running full pelt. Mary fell down and screamed.)
Brian: HAHA! There you are.
(Marco helped her up and they kept running.)
Marco: This way!
Brian: Haha!
Marco: Come and get some!
(They all were breathing heavily running through the mud and grass.)
Marco: This way!
(They turned the corner and now Brian was a few yards from them. Suddenly there was a loud snap and Brian yelped in pain. He screamed in agony.)
Brian: My leg! My Leg!
(Marco and Mary stopped running. Both of them hunched over. Brian kept screaming. His laid on the floor with his leg caught in heavy metal. He stepped in a bear trap. His screams floating on the night air.)
Mary: Brian I told you, leave me!
Brian: Mary! How could you do this to me?
Mary; You did it to yourself!
Marco: Look! Listen!
Brian: You son of a bitch, when I get out of this I'm gonna-
Marco: Look I will help you but you need to know that you are going to prison for a very long time.
Brian: Mary? Is this how you set me up? What about the kids?
Mary: We will be fine without you. I just need you out of the picture.
(Brian was writhing in pain. He was crying and wailing. Mary embraced Marco.)
Brian: Is this because you want this guy!? I knew something was happening. You whore!
Marco: Hey man, I am just doing my job.
Brian: I can't go to jail, please.
Marco: Look we aren't discussing this-
(Mary raised Marco's gun and fired two bullets in his chest. Brian's body flopped to the floor. Marco stood and stared at her in shock. She had taken the gun off his holster when she hugged him. Her face was blank. Her hands were trembling but her face showed no emotion.)
Marco: Hey! Woahh! What the hell are you doing? This wasn't the plan.
(Mary didn't move or talk she just stared at Brian's dead body.)
Marco: Mary! You can go to prison, he was meant to go to prison not you! What's wrong with you? Give me the gun.
Mary: I'm sorry Marco, I can't do that.
(She turned the gun to him and shoot 3 rounds in his chest. He fell to the ground. Lifeless. She looked at both of them and walked away. She took out her phone and called Candice.)
Candine: Hello?
Mary: It's done, I'm by the interstate come and get me.
Candice: I will be there in 5 minutes.
(She walked to the road, as she got closer she threw her phone into the river. She breathed deeply and smiled. After a few minutes Candine pulled up in her Range Rover. She slowed down so Mary could get in. Ryan and Rochelle were at the back sleeping. She lean't over and kissed them both on the fore head. She buckled her seat belt and Candice hit the gas and they were off.)
